The Happy Meal Project

Sep
No Comments   Posted by Heather |  Category:My 2 Cents

I know I drive you crazy with my pushy 2 cents on what you are eating, but remember I do it because I care about you and I want you to be healthy.  And one thing I can certainly say is not healthy is this Happy Meal.  A photographer has been documenting the decay (or lack there of) of this happy meal for the last 137 days. It looks exactly the same as it did on day one.  How scary is that???

Restore America to What?

I have been trying to figure out these last couple of weeks  what time frame does Glenn Beck want for his “Restore America” time machine?  I never trust people that live in the past.  And I can’t quite get a read on when he thinks America was so great.

I like to get my news from the best sources possible, so The Daily Show and The Colbert Report are among mis favoritos!  During a recent program Mr. Colbert had author Wes Moore on to talk about his book, The Other Wes Moore. You can see the segment here.

Are Kids Ruining/ Going to Ruin Your Life?

There is an interesting article that Sarah Henry sent me from New York Magazine about why parents hate parenting.  It sites a number of studies that clearly show parents are less happy than their child free counterparts.  Leon and I were talking about it on our walk to the grocery yesterday.

Dear Range Rover Sport,

Today I will take you to the dealer to say our last goodbyes, and while our relationship hasn’t always been a love affair, we have shared so many important times together.

Anchors Away

The latest crazy coming out of Arizona is the push to ignore the 14th amendment of the U.S. Constitution.  Lawmakers are working to create a law that does not allow citizenship to all children born in the US.  Yes, that is right.  Being born in Arizona may not make you a US Citizen.   This new legislation is being called the “anchor baby” law.  Basically it means a a non-US citizen has a baby in the US (now making the baby a US Citizen) as a quest to enhance the parents opportunities in this country.  I am going to let you do your own research on this one as a viable piece of legislation. What I want to talk about is our moral compass as a nation.

Happy Memorial Day

Please take a moment to remember this weekend is about more than an extra day off work, a 500 mile car race, or the opening of the pool; it is about honoring those in our military who have died in service.  While I might kvetch about the many issues in the US that aren’t perfect in my perception, the truthiness is I am thankful everyday to live in a country where I can openly share my thoughts and views. (at least for now)

Unless you are into the latest celebrity craze diet I can’t think of a single reason to buy a jar of baby food.

Over The Line

Regardless of what yesterday’s  quiz says you are on the political spectrum, I hope you are as outraged as I am at the recent bill signed into law in Arizona.  I am hopeful to see the TEA Party posse descend upon the state.  I can’t imagine a law more in opposition of individual rights.  If you have been living under a rock this week- Arizona has passed a law that essentially requires police officers to request ID from anyone they deem “may be unlawfully present in the US.”  Obviously this is tantamount to racial profiling. I doubt there will be much questioning of illegal Canadians.

So a couple of things came to mind for me immediately.
